About COVID 19

“Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus.”
Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness.

COVID 19 Transmission

“COVID-19 is a new disease and we are still learning about how it spreads" according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) In general, respiratory virus infection can occur through:

  1. contact (direct or indirect)
  2. droplet spray in short range transmission
  3. aerosol in long-range transmission (airborne transmission)

COVID 19 Prevetion

“Protect yourself and others around you by knowing the facts and taking appropriate precautions. Follow advice provided by your local public health agency.”

To prevent the spread of COVID-19:
  1. Clean your hands often. Use soap and water, or an alcohol-based hand rub.
  2. Maintain a safe distance from anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
  3. Don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth.
  4. Cover your nose and mouth with your bent elbow or a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
  5. Stay home if you feel unwell.
  6. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention. Call in advance.
  7. Follow the directions of your local health authority.

COVID 19 symptoms

To prevent the spread of COVID-19:

    Most common symptoms:

    1. fever
    2. dry cough
    3. tiredness

    Less common symptoms:

    1. aches and pains
    2. sore throat
    3. diarrhoea
    4. conjunctivitis
    5. headache
    6. loss of taste or smell
    7. a rash on skin, or discolouration of fingers or toes

    Serious symptoms:

    1. difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
    2. chest pain or pressure
    3. loss of speech or movement
