About Organizational Psychology


Organizational psychology is a branch of psychology, which deals with human behavior in organizational settings. The most important element in any organization is human power. The successes or failure of any organization is highly dependent upon its staff members. Hence, placing the right persons in the right places at the right time and managing their behaviors are crucial. In addition, creating conducive environment for workers in organizations to understand, release, and actualize their potential is vital in ensuring organizational development in particular and national development in general. These can be done by application of the principles of organizational psychology. In line with the above issues, this course aims at application of socio-psychological theories and principles to the workplace and or business settings. It focuses on the social variables, value, attitude, motivation, their formations and applications in organizational and business settings. It studies, decision- making, group dynamics, organizational structure, organizational development, organizational behavior, leadership, communication in organizations and businesses, staffing (selection and placing process). The course presents human resource development strategies in organizations and businesses. It presents formation, characteristics, development, and problems of groups in organizations and business settings.
