About psychopharmacology

Psychopharmacology has been greatly advanced by advances in other areas of pharmacology- anthropology, physiology, psychology and medicine- both technically and theoretically. However, because of both brain and behavior are complex topic, psychopharmacology has to travel further roads so that it would be more successful in its relationship to psychology. Hence, as the present course is designed for behavioral science students, it will be confined to discuss the nature, actions and effects of psychoactive and psychotherapeutic drugs. In addition, the course treats the effects of psychoactive drugs on the communication network of the brain and behavior or thought. At least, treatment mechanisms for substance related disorders, prevention and rehabilitation strategies will be dealt in greater detail.
