Lectures: Definitions, causes, distribution, transmission, pathogenesis, clinical signs, post-mortem examination, diagnosis, treatment, control and prevention of major infectious diseases (parasitic, bacterial, viral, fungal) and nutritional disorders of poultry prevalent in the tropics particularly in Ethiopia. Emerging, re-emerging and zoonotic poultry diseases are descried. Practical: Itincludes activities like demonstration of poultry necropsy techniques, examination of dead or moribund poultry, collection, preservation, labeling and dispatching of morbid poultry materials and visit to poultry farms, investigation of field outbreaks and report writing on the basis of examination results.
