This course deals with history of genetics and nucleic acids, gene expression and its control in eukaryotes and prokaryotes, transmission genetics, chromosomes and heredity, fundamentals of Mendelian genetics: segregation, independent assortment, probability, Mendelian inheritance in human, autosomal and sex linked inheritance, application of Mendelian genetics, non-Mendelian inheritance, the eukaryotic cell cycle and cell division; chromosome structure; Cytogenetics, sex determination, gene mutation, microbial genetics, extrachromosomal and mobile genetic elements, and gene mapping
