This course will cover traditional material as well as recent advances in information retrieval (IR), the study of the processing, indexing, querying, organization, and classification of textual documents. In this course basic and advanced techniques for text-based information systems: efficient text indexing; Boolean and vector space retrieval models; evaluation and interface issues will be covered.
