The course is about the study of critical theoretical statements about literature and its Course Description analysis from the classical period to 20th century. With in this frame work, concepts of literary criticism, major critical theories / approaches /of literary criticism, (historical, biographical, psychological, tsociological approaches etc), historical survey of literary criticism in Amharic literature, practical exercise in selected genres of Amharic literary works etc are focus areas. The other focus of the course is to describe the importance or functions of literary criticism, should be givien emphasis.
