In this chapter slope deflection method which is one of the classical formulations of the displacement group of methods is applied to determine joint displacements of indterminate structures. In this method, the moments at the ends of a memeber are expressed in terms of the displacements of these ends. The method takes in to account only the bending deformations of structures, and consequently, is used to analyze indeterminate structures, made up of moment resisting memebers such as continuous beams and rigid-jointed frames.

The chapter deals with development of influence lines which are used for the analysis of indeterminate structures subjected to moving loads. The method is applied for analysis of structures such as bridges, gantry girders, Crane beams etc.

In this chapter, two distinct approachs of analysis of indeterminate structures are discussed. The two approaches are force method and displacement method. The methods are used for analysis of large structures by computers which is time cosnuming and tedious by hand.
